Interface is the parent-led Forum in Redbridge for parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with disabilities

Interface is the Parent Forum set up under Aiming High for Disabled Children. Funded by national Government, it is made up of parent carers of disabled children and disabled young people, it engages constructively with the Local Authority and Health and promotes parent participation so that strategic and service planning and delivery better meets the needs of disabled children and young people and their families.
We hope through our work to:
- Show parents that parent participation matters and is making a real difference to disabled childrens’ services and their lives and those of their families in Redbridge
- Demonstrate to those in charge in the Local Authority and Health that parent carers are effective partners in making those changes happen
- See disabled children more mainstreamed and less marginalised in planning and development of strategies, policies and services in Redbridge in line with national policies, strategies and standards and new Equalities legislation
- Through all this we hope to empower parents to feel good about themselves, be confident consumers of services and feel they can contribute and can achieve real change even as individuals.

We have been complaining about these issues since 2008 and have attended hundreds of meetings to seek resolutions with PCT, LA and others with only minimal progress being made. We have just seen this CQC report issued last week

Care Quality Commission issues damning report on disabled children’s health services
Thursday, 22 March 2012
Campaigners call for a swift response
The Every Disabled Child Matters campaign (EDCM) has raised concerns at the findings of a Care Quality Commission (CQC) report published today (Thursday 22nd March) on 'Healthcare for disabled children and young people'.
In response to a self assessment questionnaire, PCTs reported 'high levels of access and user-centred care'. However, this is at odds with highly negative comments from families with disabled children.

Sustainable Employment Pilot for Disabled People in Redbridge
Wednesday, 07 March 2012
Interface presented proposals with the Local Authority for a pilot in Redbridge to create sustainable employment for disabled people to Lee Scott MP and others last week.
We explained why we believe this can be best done by the creation of a business led Disability Employment Network that has as its objective increasing the number of disabled people in work on a macro level.
View local MP Lee Scott speaking about this at PMQs today
(scroll along time scale to 12.22.42).
